The 2009 MMRA Western Grand National race is booked for October 17th, 2009 at Shasta Raceway Park in Anderson in Northern California.

Open practice is scheduled for October 16th.

The MMRA Grand National event is the season ending championship event. Due to economic concerns, MMRA has declared that the Grand National event is not a mandatory race for the 2009 championship scoring.

Mission Valley Speedway in Polson, Montana hosted the 2008 Western Grand National event with Washington state driver AJ Butler claiming the main event. Michael Kipp scored the main event win in the 2007 Western Grand National at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Oregon.

Shasta Raceway Park at the Shasta District Fairgrounds in Anderson, CA has gone through many changes since its inception in the late 1940’s. Originally a dirt track it was paved in 1972 and configured in a ¼-mile oval.

Three years ago the oval was lengthened to a 3/8ths mile and repaved. The pit area was also paved and, in early March, further oval surface upgrades will be performed. For more information about Shasta Raceway, visit www.ShastaRacewayPark.net.
